Climate Gardens uses the effects of unpredictable weather on plants and gardens to educate and encourage discussion and action in response to climate change. Its audience includes amateur and professional horticulturalists, plant nurseries and growers, environmentalists, schools and community groups and aims to involve all in sharing their experiences and understanding of how to preserve our gardens and green spaces. Climate Gardens have been working in connection with the Royal Horticultural Society and Abundance and they have big plans for the future!
Climate Gardens commissioned Make Hay to create and build a brand new web presence, a campaign and awareness raising website. This involves a robust process from beginning to launch, including setting out the online objectives of the organisation and providing copywriting support to help Climate Gardens establish their voice and express their aims to their web audience. We developed the visual brand identity in-line with the existing logo, as well as responsive layouts for all sections. We implemented the ExpressionEngine content management system allowing Climate Gardens to fully manage their own content site-wide.
Climate Gardens' features include:
- Site-wide search facility
- Online contact forms
- Categorised and archived news section
- Embedded video facility
- Integrated social network updates and sharing facilities
- E-newsletter sign-up and Make Mail newsletter facility
- Multi-level pages
- Green Hosting powering the site with renewable energy
To ensure that Climate Gardens can maintain a high quality web presence we also provided training on how to use the website content management system and best practice on preparing, writing and publishing online content.
