Foxglove Covert LNR Case Study
Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve in North Yorkshire is a Site of Local Nature Conservation Importance. This beautiful 94 acre reserve is home to more than 2000 species and with a range of habitats from woodland and wetland to healthland and meadows. It really is a special place to discover and enjoy wildlife. There is strong emphasis on education at all levels and regular events are held for visitors.
This is a modernisation and re-design for the Foxglove Covert website, creating new responsive layouts for desktop, tablet and mobile screens and updating to the latest version of the ExpressionEngine CMS. Because the previous version of the website had been a success and worked very well the Foxglove team were keen to keep the new version close to its exising visual style, aesthetic and structure.
The objectives for the new website were to continue to promote the excellent facilities and activities at the nature reserve and gather further support for the charity. Staff members can still easily manage and update the website content as they had previously.
Some of the features include an interactive map of reserve habitats, categorised and searchable species lists, educational activity resources, photo galleries and e-commerce for online donations and purchases, news and events as well as they very busy blog. Social media and RSS feeds are integrated.
