Cycling for All

Cycling for All

Website: http://cyclingforall.org

Cycling for All is an online resource for cyclists and "for those who thought they couldn't cycle". It is run by the London based charity, Wheels for Wellbeing, who support disabled people to cycle.

Wheels for Wellbeing approached us to create the website, identity and logo for this project. We provided initial consultation and planning for the website and brand, working within the budget and considering the specific requirements of its users, along with the objectives of the organisation.

The brief was to ensure that both the visual identity and the website design portrayed the fun and healthy activity of cycling as well as being clear, vibrant and uncluttered for a positive user experience for visitors of varying needs and abilities. The aims of the website are to provide a range of resources about inclusive cycling and these requirements had been identified from the organisations' own research, knowledge of service users' enquiries and cyclists' first hand experiences.

This website is responsive so that it provides optimum usability for the various screen sizes of devices, from desktop computers to mobile phones - particularly useful for busy cyclists on the go! It uses HTML5 and CSS 3.

Cycling for All includes:

- 'Advice' pages on a range of cycling topics, with downloadable guides and 'how tos'.
- A searchable directory of 'Useful Contacts' for cyclists including cycle hire and retailers, cycling clubs and training
- 'Good to Meet You' section where cyclists tell their stories and share their experiences.
- An an interactive map and searchable listings of off road routes for tricycles.
- A blog with archives, categories and comments facilities
- Pages about the organisation and on how to donate to the charity.

Sharing functions for social networks are built in site-wide as well as RSS feeds for the blog.

As this website is a content management system, giving staff the facility to edit text and images site-wide, training and written guides were provided, not only on how to administer the website but how to maintain accessible and search engine friendly content for SEO and online marketing.

Cycling for All is run on our very own wind powered Green Hosting.

You could not find friendlier or more professional guys to be working with! We are a tiny organisation at Wheels for Wellbeing and not particularly computer literate (speaking personally here!) so if I say they've made it really easy for us, trust me, they have! But more importantly, in designing the look and feel of the website, they totally got it when we said we wanted a site which was easy to navigate, accessible in every way and all about being invigorated, free, outdoors, etc. And the beautiful thing is: the site is powered by green energy! Could not be more appropriate!! Vicky and Jez, Thank you!
